Catch report |
I caught numerous fish throughout the week and soon lost count.
Having forgotten to bring a camera was a real disappointment but managed to get a few pictures on a friends who was fishing the other side of the lake. I had a few fish up to 29lb 12oz pushing towards that 30lb barrier before I landed fish of 40lb 10oz on the Sunday night which is now my P.B. Throughout the holiday I had a lot of twenties (a lot pushing towards 30lb), four 30s and one 40+. A great result and one I was very pleased with. I shall be back next year with the lads to try another lake on the Goncourt. Thanks for a great weeks fishing.

Tactics & baits |
I started by baiting a large area to the left of the island (looking at it from the road) on the first night and simply left the swim to develop. I began to fish that swim the second evening and had my best fish of the holiday that night as a result. As the week progressed the weather took a turn for the worst. All the fish seemed to move and were holed up behind the island as one of the lads found out after a sleepless night of intense action and Three 30s on the bank. I continued to catch but more infrequently and not as well as the first two nights. The wind was really bad and the swim i had on the road was really exposed to the elements.
The last day or so the weather picked up again and the fishing really took off again. The last night i changed to a method feeder and caught a few 30s and a lot of high 20s. The fish tend to respond to method ball sized amounts of freebees once you have already baited the swim. 90% of my fish were caught on particles so personally i recommend those. But a few friends on the other side of the lake also had a few 30s on Peach n Pepper boilies which were sold on site.
