The Great Lake

The Great Lake has 18 swims (12 anglers max or 14 if booked exclusively) spread out around this 60+ acre gravel pit. Weedbeds (present June-Aug) spread around the lake.

There are very few destinations on this planet where you may hope to land a 40lb+ or 50lb fully scaled or linear carp. The Great lake holds such fish and it is no coincidence that fish from this venue have made the front cover of angling magazines 7 times over the last few years.

We estimate the population of 500-700 carp, stock enhancement in 2003 with fish of the same complex have made this lake more approachable and prolific. These fish are worth every bit of effort made in their capture, it is not an instant take venue but it is long shot from being impossible. If you are on the fish they are quite easy to catch, in fact, blanks are becoming something of an unusual occurrence.

A very big Common has been seen many times by many anglers but never caught to Pascale's knowledge, the biggest common caught is 30lb, will it be you to catch the Large Common from the Great Lake

Do you like a big fight? Then you may be interested in meeting the Great Lake sturgeon, they run to 70lb+ and fight like a train with a head start. If you had any doubts with your gear, an encounter with one of these will settle your mind. These fish are just solid bars of fun awaiting your visit.

If it is fully scaled and linears that you after this is the ultimate place. Roughly 2 out of 5 fish are 30lb+, most being caught in the margins or off the weedbeds. Sturgeon to 70lb, carp to 53lb, grass carp to 40lb+ and massive pike to 40lb+. The place is a revelation in terms of fish beauty, the lake itself is fairly open with grassy banks and the fishing is really special.

Toilet and showers at the entrance to the lake. The baker comes to the complex for bread delivery every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If required, the anglers can be delivered pizzas on the lake on the Friday evening.
