Graviere des Saules

Graviere des Saules gravel pit is part of the Goncourt complex in the Champagne region. It is rented on an exclusive basis for a group of 5 anglers maximum. Have the lake to yourself, enjoy fishing off the peninsula with your friends. Again, the lake's horseshoe shape ensures a sociable atmosphere with maximum capture chances for all anglers. The whole party may fish from a single peninsula in the middle of the lake. Each angler has his own patch of water to explore for the week

The water is usually quite clear so many happy hours may be spent watching the favourite feeding spots of the numerous inhabitants. Les Saules is not a chuck it and chance it water, good angling plays an important part in the success that may be had on site.

Les Saules benefits from the perfect setup to enjoy a session in the company of friends and the double advantage of having a stock of large carp running to 64lb.

Les Saules has a high stock of big fish (25lb-52lb+), but you still need to work a bit for them. Some groups in 2004 had an average size of capture of 30lb+. The average was once low twenties, now it is upper 20's with 30's caught on pretty much all weeks of the season. 40's do also come out, especially the commons which come out in flurries.

After 10 years the venue is well established and has become quite famous for its heavily scaled beauties. The particularity of Les Saules is that its largest fish are commons but all the other large fish are mirrors !

Conveniently, the cars may be parked at the back of the bivvy. A small chalet with a fridge is also on the peninsula to help you store some gear or eat together out of the elements should the good weather not be with you.

There is a chalet with fridge and small freezer, electricity, table with chairs, barbeque weber. Toilet and showers for the only use of the Saules anglers are at the entrance of the lake

The baker comes to the complex for bread delivery every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If required, the anglers can be delivered pizzas on the lake on the Friday evening.
