Etang de la Botte

La Botte is a lovely landscaped gravel pit situated in the champagne region, just 3.5 hours away from the port of Calais. This 40 acre + lake has been open as a carp fishery for now ten years. We acquired the lake in 2006 and have already made some very significant improvements to the stock and facilities.

Very large carp are present here with at least 3 known upper fifties, 1 sixty (62lb caught in 2007) and a good head of 40's. Whilst waiting for these to make an appearance there is plenty of scope to get a bend in the rods with the plentiful 20's. A series of nettings in 2006 has very significantly reduced the number of bream & upper double carp present, which was the main comment in 2006 for some anglers.

The shape of the lake, the presence of a large island and plenty of high standing gravel patches make the fishing very enjoyable with every swim having something in front to fish to. This venue will suit the accomplished specimen angler as well as the relatively inexperienced. The lake may be relatively big but not once have the guests found it daunting once on site. We know that the fishery is now very well balanced with a bright future for its big fish potential.

The baker comes to the complex for bread delivery every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If required, the anglers can be delivered pizzas on the lake on the Friday evening.

At Goncourt lodge, there is TV and English satellite.
